Tutoring Opportunities at Charting Careers

Elementary Read to Succeed Tutoring

Read to Succeed tutors come to Navigating TIDES, our after school program conducted in partnership with Annapolis Maritime Museum & Park, to work one-on-one or with a small group 1-2 times per week during the academic year.

Goals of Tutoring:

  • Enhance elemenary scholars’ academic and social-emotional growth

  • Support and encourage scholars to develop a love of learning and reading by providing high-quality literacy instruction and access to engaging and culturally relevant texts

  • Assist scholars in becoming proficient readers, based on what they each need most

  • Work collaboratively with parents and other stakeholders to support young children’s literacy and overall development

When middle school or high school scholars are struggling in a particular subject area and require support beyond what the school system is able to offer, we work to match them with a one-on-one tutor for their specific area(s) of need. Tutors usually meet with scholars at the public library.
