The Central Maryland Digital Equity Exchange (CDEX)

The Central Maryland Digital Equity Exchange (CDEX) is a regional collaborative working to advance digital equity across Central Maryland. CDEX brings together community-based organizations, local governments, schools, libraries, healthcare providers, and private-sector partners to coordinate efforts that expand access to affordable broadband, devices, digital skills, and trusted support.

Launched in partnership with the Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband (OSB), CDEX aligns local and regional work with Maryland’s broader digital equity and broadband goals. By connecting partners across Anne Arundel, Baltimore, Carroll, and Howard Counties, CDEX helps ensure that strategies are community-informed, data-driven, and responsive to the needs of residents most impacted by the digital divide.

CDEX serves as a shared space for collaboration—supporting information-sharing, joint planning, resource alignment, and coordinated implementation. Through working groups, regional data analysis, and peer learning, partners strengthen what is already happening on the ground while reducing duplication and closing gaps.

Charting Careers serves as the backbone organization for CDEX, providing coordination, facilitation, and administrative support to help partners work more effectively together. Our role is to support the collective—centering community voice, elevating partner leadership, and advancing shared outcomes—so that digital opportunity is expanded equitably across the region.

Together with OSB and our cross-sector partners, CDEX is building the relationships, infrastructure, and shared accountability needed to create lasting digital equity in Central Maryland.
