The Charting Careers Innovation Hub
Charting Careers’ Innovation Hub is a dynamic learning space where young people (and adults) build the digital skills, confidence, and creativity needed to thrive in today’s connected world. Supported in part by the Maryland Office of Statewide Broadband and Safe States Alliance, this initiative expands access to technology, devices, and structured digital skills training for youth and families in our community.
Through hands-on learning experiences — including digital literacy training, research skills, STEM exploration, career-connected projects, and digital storytelling — scholars strengthen both technical competencies and essential life skills such as problem-solving, collaboration, and communication. Youth also have opportunities to apply their skills in real-world settings, from documenting community events to developing presentations and exploring career pathways.
More than a technology lab, the Innovation Hub is a safe, supportive environment grounded in our trauma-informed, whole-person approach. By increasing digital access and confidence, we are helping close opportunity gaps and ensuring young people are prepared for high school, college, workforce pathways, and civic engagement.
The City of Annapolis’ Maker’s Space and Naptown C.E.O. Academy
The City of Annapolis Maker’s Space and the Naptown CEO Academy — two city-supported initiatives designed to expand creativity, innovation, and entrepreneurship among Annapolis youth — are housed in Charting Careers’ Office.
The Maker’s Space provides young people with hands-on opportunities to explore design, technology, and creative problem-solving in a collaborative environment. From building and prototyping to digital creation and project-based learning, youth are encouraged to experiment, think critically, and bring their ideas to life.
The Naptown CEO Academy introduces aspiring young entrepreneurs to foundational business concepts, leadership development, and real-world application. Participants learn about goal setting, branding, financial literacy, and community impact while developing confidence in their own ideas and voice.
By housing these initiatives within the Charting Careers office, we are able to integrate mentoring, digital skills training, and whole-person support with innovation and entrepreneurship programming. This co-location strengthens access, removes barriers, and creates a vibrant, youth-centered space where creativity and opportunity intersect.
