Mentoring & Whole-Person Growth

At Charting Careers, mentors are caring, responsible adults who build positive, consistent relationships with young people. By listening, supporting, and guiding them—typically over at least one year—mentors help youth succeed at home, in school, and in the community.

Mentors:

  • Help young people set and achieve personal goals

  • Support academic growth and engagement in school

  • Nurture self-confidence and self-esteem

  • Listen and help youth brainstorm solutions to challenges

  • Introduce new ideas, activities, and opportunities

Individual Mentoring

At the heart of Charting Careers is one-to-one mentoring. We foster meaningful, lasting bonds between caring adults and youth, built on trust and encouragement. Mentors commit 4–8 hours per month, including weekly check-ins and at least one in-person meeting. With staff support and training, mentors provide stability, connection, and opportunities that build resilience.
