Core Programs at Charting Careers

At Charting Careers, our work is rooted in four core programs that guide everything we do. Through Learning & Future Readiness, Mentoring & Whole-Person Growth, Family Support & Wellness, and Community Collaboration & Leadership, we empower youth, partner with families, and strengthen communities. Together, these programs provide the relationships, resources, and opportunities young people and their families need to discover their strengths, achieve their goals, and thrive.

🧭 Learning & Future Readiness

Through after-school and during-school programs, workshops, tutoring, enrichment opportunities, career exploration, and social-emotional learning, we help scholars build academic skills, resilience, and confidence. Students set and achieve goals while exploring pathways to college and careers.

Measures of Success:

  • Improved grades, literacy levels, and school engagement

  • Students practice social-emotional skills such as communication and perseverance

  • 100% of high school seniors supported in completing a post-secondary plan

  • Increased participation in enrichment, college visits, and career exploration

  • Students set and make progress toward individualized academic, personal, and career goals

🤝 Mentoring & Whole-Person Growth

Caring mentors walk alongside youth, providing encouragement, consistency, and support for academic, social-emotional, and personal growth. Mentors help scholars set goals, build confidence, and navigate challenges.

Measures of Success:

  • 90% of mentees report having a trusted adult they can count on

  • Increased school attendance and engagement

  • Students show improved confidence, resilience, and leadership skills

  • Youth set and achieve personal and academic goals with mentor support

🏡 Family Support and Wellness

We partner with parents and caregivers to strengthen wellness, stability, and self-sufficiency. Families receive coaching, connections to resources, and support in times of crisis, ensuring children can thrive in a secure environment.

Measures of Success:

  • Families achieve progress toward self-identified goals

  • Increased stability in housing, food security, and employment

  • Families report stronger connections to community resources and support networks

  • Parents and caregivers feel more equipped to support their children’s success

🌍 Community Collaboration & Leadership

We connect schools, organizations, and community members to create a strong network of support for youth and families. Through coalitions, prevention programs, and leadership opportunities, we amplify youth voice and foster stronger neighborhoods.

  • Strong and sustainable partnerships with schools and organizations

  • Increased volunteer engagement and retention

  • Expanded opportunities for youth leadership and community service

  • Community initiatives that elevate youth and family voices in decision-making

Our Impact

Each year, Charting Careers serves more than 75 youth and their families across Annapolis and Anne Arundel County. Thanks to our mentors, volunteers, and supporters, 100% of our programs are provided at no cost to participants.
